Impounding Fees

Fees can be paid at the Council Offices or at the Dog Pound. (The Dog Pound accepts EFTPOS only.)

If a dog is impounded on more than one occasion over a 12 month period, the owner may be issued with an Infringement Notice and charged a fee of either $200 or $300.

A dog may be impounded for  breach of the Dog Control Act 1996 or local bylaws, with the main reason being failure of the owner to control their dog.

Dogs must be registered, micro chipped and all fees paid before being released from the pound. The only dogs that do not require micro chipping are registered dogs that have been impounded for the first time.

Sale of a dog includes the cost of micro chipping the animal. The current registration fee must also be paid before the dog is released from the pound.
