Pet care

Depending on the nature of the disaster, you may have to leave your home or district. You may not be able to take your pets with you in the event of evacuation.

What You Can Do Now

  • Have a permanent disc on your pet's collar with your name, phone number and address on it.
  • Always have a carry-box with blanket or towel ready. Identify the box with your name, address and phone number.
  • Keep an emergency supply of tinned pet food.

What to Do if Disaster Strikes

  • If you have the time, feed your pets before leaving.
  • In case of flooding, place your pets in the roof space of your home with as much food and water for them as possible.
  • When asked to evacuate, go immediately to your street assembly point and tell the authorities about the animals you have left behind.
  • Appointed wardens and SPCA personnel will be on hand to visit your home for you.
  • Remember your animal may be more adaptable and self-sufficient than you think.
