- An extension and upgrade of Turangi Library is scheduled to start in March 2007 and to complete by November 2007. During this period the library collection and staff will be relocating to the Turangi Tongariro administration building.

Borrowing
If you want to borrow anything you must first register to receive a borrower’s card. Children under 16 years of age must have their application card endorsed by a parent or guardian.

If what you want is not immediately available, you may reserve or interloan what you require.
Finding What I Want
If you have difficulties ask for assistance. There is a computer catalogue where items in the library can be found. You can choose any word or subject and our keyword search will automatically list every title in the library with that word in it.
Loan Period
All library items except videos and magazines are lent for approximately four weeks. Some popular items have a two week borrowing period.
Information
There is a variety of information for library users to choose from.
- Newspapers. The library receives 13 different newspapers
- Reference collection
- Multimedia facility with reference discs
- Updated New Zealand statutes
- Links to the extensive Te Puna database
- Photocopier
- Internet connection for reference/research.
- Access to the EPIC database - a worldwide supply of information.
Services for Children
There is a range of quality books for children of all ages
- The multimedia facility is popular with children for using reference discs or just for fun
- Group visits from pre-school organisations to schools
- Story time and holiday programmes are held during the school holidays. Call us for details
Services for Young Adults
A special section of the library has been dedicated to the needs and tastes of young adults. We encourage you to use this section as a step into the full adult collection.
Special Services
- Housebound services – for people at home wanting to borrow from the library
- Large Print Books – unabridged popular books in larger text
- Talking Books – books recorded on cassettes, for people who are prevented from using regular books
- Local Studies Collection – the library has a growing collection of printed word, photographs, maps and other material covering the history of our area. Have you any relevant material we could copy to add to this valuable community resource?
