Abandoned Cars
Cars abandoned in a street by the owner can be removed by Council to a vehicle pound and later sold to defray costs. If a vehicle is left in the street it becomes a target for intentional damage and is a safety issue for other road users. If a vehicle is reported as abandoned then Council will want to know how long the vehicle has been in the area, the make and type of vehicle and if attached, the registration plate details. Cars will be removed after some enquiries are made to locate an owner. Vehicles abandoned on State Highways are the responsibility of Transit NZ. |
