Signage Rules Within the Taupo District
Before erecting any signage within the Taupo area it is necessary to conform with all relevant standards imposed by the Taupo District Council. Please follow these steps to ensure compliance.

In order to identify the Environment (Residential, Rural, Town Centre or Industrial) that the sign is to be erected in you will need to refer to the maps If you are unable to identify the environment which applies to your property please contact the Planning Liaison Officer at the District Council.
Refer to the Proposed Taupo District Plan for the following relevant environment rules.
Residential Standards rule 4a3.10
Rural Standards rule 4b.3.8
Town Centre Standards 4c.3.6
Industrial Standards 4d.3.7

Any signage which exceeds these standards will require a Resource Consent. To navigate to the Resource Consents page click HERE.

If the proposed signage is for a new commercial venture it is strongly advised that you ensure the new venture also complies with the all relevant Council rules and requirements.
