Economic Development
The Taupo District Economic Development Advisory Board (TDEDAB) was set up in April 2006 to provide advice on economic development in the Taupo District including reviewing the Economic Development Strategy. The Board also provides advice to Council on funding priorities for the use of Council’s economic development budget.
The following attributes are sought in representatives of economic development board:
- Knowledge and experience relevant to the position
- Experience in economic development, governance, local government and the commercial sector
- A high standard of personal integrity
- Time available to undertake duties
- The ability to appreciate the wider public interest and to represent the Taupo District.

Tourism
The Lake Taupo Tourism Advisory Board (LTTAB) was set up in 2004. It provides advice on tourism including advice on the marketing direction and operations of Destination Lake Taupo and destination management. It also provides advice on the expenditure of Council’s annual tourism budget, including both the Marketing Development Rate and the General Rate.
The following attributes are sought in representatives of the tourism board:
Knowledge and experience in tourism, governance, local government, and the commercial sector
Ability to represent the southern end of Lake Taupo, Mangakino, the Department of Conservation and Iwi
No real or perceived conflicts of interest
A high standard of personal integrity
Time available to undertake duties
The ability to represent the wider public interest.
