During a restricted fire season a fire permit is required for every fire in the open air.
Fire permits may be obtained by applying to the Taupo District Council offices, Lake Terrace, Taupo, during normal office hours – Phone 07) 376 0899.
Green material should be left to dry for at least one month prior to burning, to prevent smoke nuisance to neighboring properties.
Burning of plastics, waste oil or rubber tyres is illegal as it results in harmful contaminants being released into the environment.
Wind conditions should be noted at the time of burning to avoid any nuisance to neighboring property owners.
