Plan Change 26 - Code of Practice Alignment
Plan Change 26 will amend the District Plan to align with the Taupo District Code of Practice Development of Land 2009. These changes focus on the introduction of better engineering standards as they relate to managing environmental effects of subdivision and development. These new provisions are primarily associated with earthworks, vehicular access, and stormwater on private property.
The changes are summarised as:
- Additions to the earthworks assessment criteria for the Residential Environment.
- Revision of parking requirements for residential and accommodation activities.
- New minimum standards for driveways and accessways.
- Amendment to onsite stormwater disposal requirements in the Residential, Town Centre and Industrial Environments.
Hearings
The hearing for Plan Change 26 and 27 to the Taupo District Plan will be held during the Regulatory & Hearing meeting on Thursday, 6 May 2010 at 2pm in the Council Chambers of the Taupo District Council, 72 Lake Terrace, Taupo.

The further submission period is notified on 12 March 2010 and closes on Friday, 26 March 2010 at 5.00pm.

Plan Change 26 was notified for public submissions on Friday, 18 December 2009. The closing date for submissions on Plan Change 26 is 5.00pm on Friday, 12 February 2009.
How to make a submission on a plan change
Plan Change 27 - Minor Amendments
Plan Change 27 aims to increase the usability of the Taupo District Plan and considers matters determined necessary to clarify and improve it's administration and operation. Plan Change 27 addresses issues identified since the plans inception, including minor updates and corrections. Points considered include:
- Assessment of local trees to be considered as part of the Notable and Amenity Tree Register
- Rezoning of property (2/19 Brunette Drive from Low Density Residential to better reflect the lot size and use)
- Mapping corrections
- Minor alterations to wording to increase the usability of the Plan
- Revised definitions
- Reformatting of identified rules to clarify understanding.
