Community Swimming Pool and Gymnasium

The construction of a new swimming pool and upgrade  to the Mangakino Area School  gymnasium at Mangakino have been given the green light by the Taupo/Kaingaroa-Mangakino/Pouakani Committee. The existing community centre in the town centre will also be upgraded.

The new pool is planned in conjunction with the Mangakino Area School and Stronger Communities Action Fund and will be located next to the Mangakino Area School Gymnasium in order share changing facilities with the to be upgrade gymnasium changing facilities.

• To view the proposed extensions to the pool design click HERE. ( 93 kb PDF ). It will be an outdoor pool, 25 meters in length and 10 meters wide. The depth will vary from 1.4 metres to 750 centimetres. There will also be a toddlers' pool.

Community Centre

The existing community hall in the town centre is being partially demolished to make way for the upgraded community and leisure centre. The centre will provide meeting rooms, office space, facilities for visiting health professionals, social agencies and community organisations. It will remain on the existing site in the town centre. Town Centre Upgrade

The first stage of the Mangakino town centre upgrade was completed in 2005, with Stage Two, to pave and landscape in front of the main shopping area, being deferred in order to tie in with the proposed redevelopment of the shopping complex by MV Properties. This stage is is due to start in October, 2006.

Boating Facilities

This project has now been completed.
