Following a review of economic development services Council has set up the Taupo District Economic Development Advisory Board. The Board will take responsibility for strategy development and providing direction and coordination for economic development in the District.
The Board is a Council controlled organisation, with eight members appointed as follows:
- Three members nominated by Ngati Tuwharetoa
- One representative of the Lake Taupo Tourism Advisory Board
- Four independent representatives.
One of the Board’s first activities will be to review the Economic Development Strategy. This review will be carried out over the 2006/07 year.
