Taupo Town Second Bridge Crossing

Planning for a second bridge over the Waikato River downstream from the existing Control Gates Bridge at the northern approach to Taupo has been delayed.  If built, the bridge  would provide alternative access into Taupo for motorists coming from the Nukuhau/Acacia Bay area and southbound traffic.   Although design and construction of the second bridge is on hold, Council will  continue consultation with affected landowners to determine a preferred route. This will ensure that Council is in a position to lodge a Notice of Requirement for the route if it determines that the project should proceed at a future date.
