Council has removed funding for design work for a new purpose built head office in Taupo from its 10 year plan. Alternative  solutions have been found to ease overcrowding on the current head office site on the corner of Lake Terrace and Rifle Range Road in the medium term. They include the relocation of the Environmental Services division - except for the Animal Management Team - development engineers and development contributions staff to new offices on the first floor of Gillespie Plaza in Heu Heu Street. The office will act as a one stop shop for all planning and development enquiries and will incorporate central processing areas to increase efficiencies - particularly with the handling of resource consent.
