Bacteria found in Waihaha water supply
MEDIA RELEASE
2 October 2009
Taupo District Council has found bacteria in the Waihaha water supply and is strongly advising Waihaha residents to boil drinking water.
Earlier today a routine monitoring process detected a presence of E Coli bacteria in the Waihaha water supply. The Council is currently working to rectify the issues. Waihaha is situated on the western side of Lake Taupo, south of Kinloch.
Group Manager Infrastructure and Parks, Ted Anderson said “Until further notice, all residents that are connected to this supply need to boil water for at least five minutes if used for drinking, cooking or cleaning teeth.”
If you are unsure whether you are within this catchment, please call Council on 07 376 0899. Council staff will be carrying out a letterdrop to advise affected residents as soon as possible.
