Septic Tank waste disposal facility approved 

Waste from septic tanks will be transported to Taupo Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment once the facility for contractors to dispose of waste is constructed.

Taupo District Council has approved a contract to construct a facility for septic tank waste disposal in Taupo.  The facility will be within the industrial area close to the ETA and will have its own access.  

Deputy Mayor Christine McElwee was pleased to hear the minimum life expectancy of the concrete facility to receive effluent is 100 years and provides a very reliable method of containment.  It will replace the current outdated ponds to minimise the risk to the surrounding environment and Lake Taupo. 

Spartan Construction has been awarded the construction contract valued at $516,752.
