Super surprise for 4 millionth loo visitor

MEDIA RELEASE

26 November 2009

Taupo’s iconic Superloo celebrated its four millionth visitor yesterday.  Mayor Rick Cooper presented the lucky loo-goer with a special prize pack full of vouchers and gifts donated by local retailers.

Faye Wright from Wanganui was a little shocked to walk into Taupo’s famous public toilet and find a group of people waiting for her.

“She certainly travelled a long way to use our loo, but I’m sure this will make it very worth while,” said Mayor Cooper.

More FM announcer Andrew Leiataua also interviewed the startled guest live on the radio.

A couple of European tourists also took away prizes for being visitors 4,000,001 and 4,000,002 while other visitors received a commemorative pen and chocolate fish.

The celebration comes only days after the facility was awarded a five-star rating by The New Zealand Herald in a recent national competition; one of only four toilets in the country to do so.

Taupo District Council wishes to thanks all business who contributed to the prize pack: My Music, Health 2000, Jumpers, Champions, Waikato Cleaning, Liquor King, Burger Fuel, KFC, Taupo i-Site and AC Baths.
