Council venues to adopt customer service focus
Taupo District Council has adopted a new strategy which will see Council owned venues managed with an increased customer service focus.
The purpose of the strategy is to align the management of Council venues with a single vision and set of principles, which will see the venues move from being facility focused to activity focused.
Venues Manager Tina Jakes says the strategy will give the venues increased efficiencies. “It will allow us to utilise our resources better. This will increase the social and cultural value these venues already add to our community.”
But ultimately the new focus will make the process of dealing with a Council venue better for the customer, says Ms Jakes. “The new strategy should improve the experience for anyone dealing with one of our venues, whether they are from the community, a commercial client, or a just a visitor. We want it to be a seamless service.”
Prior to the strategy, Council venues referred separately to the Great Lake Centre, AC Baths, Taupo Museum, Taupo Events Centre, and Owen Delany Park. Each venue had its own management structure, business plan and budget.
The strategy will see Venues now referred to as all ‘Council owned and/or operated facilities where people are encouraged to attend and participate in events, programmes and activities’.
