State of Emergency in Turangi-Tongariro area to be lifted at 7pm (Thurs, 2 July)
- SH 41 to open at 7pm also
- Waihi villagers able to go home
Report by scientists finds while there is still a significant risk of slip in the Hipaua thermal area, they found no signs of significant recent damage. The findings were greeted by a sign of relief by those at the meeting.
Minister John Carter congratulated all concerned on the way the emergency was handled.
