Community Grants & Awards

Taupo District Community Grants Scheme

Taupo District Council are committed to ensuring that our community grants are allocated and distributed fairly, transparently and efficiently.

This is done in two ways, through partnership agreements with Council and by grants distributed by independent distributors.

Please note Council will consider a proposal to amend the Grants and Partnerships Policy to allow the funding of day-to-day vehicle running costs, wages and salaries. This will be considered at the June 2018 Council meeting.

Partnership Agreement

A partnership agreement is an opportunity to work with Council for three years to deliver key outcomes that benefit the Taupo District. These used to be known as Service Level Agreements and were contestable through the Long-term Plan and Annual Plan processes.

Grants distributed by independent distributors

With assistance from independent distributors, Council provides financial support throughout the Taupo District for the following areas:

  • Social Services
  • Arts, Culture and Heritage
  • Sports
  • Environment

Council is also supported by the Turangi-Tongariro Community Board and the Mangakino-Pouākani Representative Group to distribute funds.

The administration of two external grants for Creative New Zealand and Sport New Zealand is also supported by Council.
