Summer Reading Programme
This free, incentives-based programme for ages 5-13 is intended to promote the enjoyment of reading and combat the backslide in children's literacy skills during the summer holidays.
Children read library books and report in to the library to receive incentives. Reading may be independent or shared. All children who have reported in four times are invited to attend the end of programme party, where they will receive a certificate and book.

Taupo Library has a new collection of dyslexia-friendly books!
For those who struggle with words, reading is not always fun, and it’s easy to lose heart and stop trying. These books are designed to appeal to young people who have dyslexia or are reluctant to read and help them develop a love of reading.
We're encouraging all kids to explore the collection and suggest dyslexia-friendly books for us to buy! For more on the books see this information booklet from publisher Barrington-Stoke.
