Waste management at your event
Environmental sustainability is of utmost importance to Taupō District Council and we want to support event organisers, sponsors, and attendees to successfully minimise waste at events.
During the planning stages, the accumulation and removal of rubbish generated at your event must be addressed. To assist event organisers with this process we have developed a waste management questionnaire and our event waste guides.
Every event application requires the completion of our Waste Minimisation Questionnaire. Completion of this form is required under the Solid Waste Bylaw 2012 for event organisers who are sponsored by Council or who undertake events on Council owned, administered or controlled land or roads.
The Waste Questionnaire must be completed at least 60 days before your event date.
The questionnaire will ask:
- What types of waste will be on site
- How waste will be contained and monitored during the event
- How waste will be removed
- Type, number and location of bins on site
Event waste guides
We have created two guides to support event organisers to reduce waste at events. These guides outline how to procure sustainable materials, tips for proper waste sorting, how to set up an event to encourage bin usage, and more.
