Alert Level 1 information
Library services in Alert Level 1
All Taupō District libraries are open at Alert Level 1. Library issues, returns and holds are operating as usual and there will be a staged return of other services, as detailed below.
Opening hours
Opening hours remain the same at Turangi Library but will be reduced at Mangakino Library and Taupō Library with Taupō Library closing at the earlier time of 5.30pm on Thursdays.

Borrowing and returning items
Library issues, returns and holds (reserves) are operating as usual. Library items can be returned during opening hours at all three libraries or by using the after hours book return slots at Taupō and Turangi Libraries.

eBooks, eAudiobooks and Online Resources
Library members can continue to download e-Books, e-Audiobooks and many of our Online Resources for free.
Visiting your library
Here are some things that you can do to keep your visit to the library safe for you and others:
- Please do not visit the library if you feel unwell.
- Keep a record of where you have been for contact tracing purposes. Posters displayed QR codes for the NZ COVID Tracer app are in all libraries. Information about the app can be found here.
- Follow Covid-19 hygiene advice including handwashing/sanitising and coughing/sneezing into your sleeve/tissue.
- While cash payment will be accepted, use of EFTPOS or Paywave is preferred.
