Wanganui Glass School graduating students 2014
Taupo Museum main gallery
December 6 to January 13 2015
A unique selection of glass art will be on display at Taupo Museum this summer, with work from some of New Zealand's most promising artists.
The exhibition, Liquid Light, is on from December 6 to January 13 and is a collection of 20 pieces created by students from Wanganui Glass School.
Exhibitions officer Kerence Stephen said the school's students produced fantastic work and the exhibition would be an insight into some of the ways glass can be used to create art. The techniques used include glass being blown, cast, fused, screen-printed and illuminated, she said. Every artwork has been created from scratch.
The work is for sale and the artists will be available to discuss their techniques at an informal session on Saturday December 6 from 10am until noon.
Liquid Light showcases the work of Alice Williams, Maria Paula Rincon, Katherine Robinson, Cally McKenzie, Rhys Carr, Natasha Yarrell and Triona Cooney.
The museum is open seven days a week from 10am to 4.30pm. Entry is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors or tertiary students and free to children and Taupo District residents with proof of address.
