Turangi netball pavilion given green light for consultation
18 December 2014
Turangi netballers will have a new base in the pavilion building at Te Kapua Park provided the community and iwi support the idea.
Taupo District Council has agreed to consult with the community on transferring ownership of the building, which sits next to the courts at Te Kapua Park, to the Turangi Angels Netball Club. They will also grant a ground lease for five years for the land the pavilion sits on if the outcome of consultation is favourable. Submissions are now open for anyone wishing to have their say on the proposal.
Te Kapua Park is owned by Ngati Turangitukua and managed by the council as a recreation reserve. The pavilion is currently unoccupied and in a state of disrepair. Under the proposal, the netball club will repair the building to an acceptable standard.
Submissions are open until February 10. For more information visit the www.taupo.govt.nz/consultation
