Earth Day litter pick-up events
We all love living here in the Taupō District and we all have the opportunity on Earth Day to get together with friends and continue to look after the place we love.
Earth Day is a global event each year, with more than a billion people in 192 countries now taking part by signing petitions, meeting with their elected officials, planting trees, and cleaning up their towns and roads.
Here in the Taupō District we will be doing the latter, with two litter pick-up events organised for mid-April.
Environmental ranger Shannon Hanson is delighted to be running more pick-up events.
“These events are always popular and every pair of hands helps to look after the place we love. We’re sure these events contribute to our Most Beautiful Large Town achievement from Keep New Zealand Beautiful, and a cleaner district is something we can all be proud of."
