Fly-line proposal gets go ahead
A proposal to establish a fly-line tourism venture at Hipapatua Reserve (Reid’s Farm) has been given approval, subject to mutually agreed licence conditions being negotiated and agreed to by council.
The decision was made at today’s council meeting following a recommendation after the hearing of submissions at a Fences, Roading, Reserves and Dogs Committee meeting earlier this month. The committee had the delegated authority to approve a licence to occupy the reserve but final consent was needed by the full council on behalf of the Minister of Conservation.
The council agreed with the committee’s decision to approve the application by 4Nature NZ Ltd for the fly-line activity and a small café for a term of 10 years.
An assessment will now be undertaken on whether resource and building consents are required before the licence conditions are negotiated.
