Traffic flows revised around Lake Terrace site
Changes to the road restrictions around the Lake Terrace worksite where there was a water main and wastewater pipe break have been made today.
The lake end of Ruapehu Street has now been reopened to cars, with signage on Lake Terrace to direct heavy vehicles travelling north into Titiraupenga Street.
The top end of Ferry Road remains closed as it is within the work site, but the central median on Tongariro Street near where it intersects with Ferry Road has been removed so that traffic heading south on Tongariro Street can access businesses there and U-turn to head back north on Tongariro Street.
Infrastructure manager Denis Lewis said Lake Terrace between Ruapehu Street and Ferry Road and the top part of Ferry Road would remain closed to allow heavy equipment to access the worksite. “We have some very big machines working on this site, and a lot of pipework being delivered to the site, so we need to give our workers the room they need to tackle this job without being held up by a lack of space to manoeuvre,” he said.
