Dog registrations now overdue
Dog owners who have not yet registered their canine companions have until next Thursday, August 1, to do so without attracting a late fee.
Dog registrations arrived in mailboxes and email inboxes in June, with registrations due July 1.
Compliance team leader Ross McDonald said over 5500 dogs had been registered so far, which was good to see, but another 2000 remained unregistered.
“Most of our dog owners have sorted out their registrations quickly and we really appreciate it,” he said. “Unfortunately we know we have at least 2000 dogs in our district that remain unregistered for the coming year that need to be registered as soon as possible.”
Any owners who had not registered their dog by August 1 with responsible owner status would lose that status as well as having to pay the late fee.
All dogs over three months of age need to be registered for the 2019/20 year as soon as they reached this age.
