Lake Terrace repairs entering final stages
Lake Terrace between Ruapehu and Titiraupenga Streets has reopened as the lake front repairs enter the final stages.
The Downstream Defender stormwater separator is now in place and the new stormwater pipes have been connected, which means pumping during heavy rainfall is no longer necessary.
Installation of the watermain is continuing this week and council has agreed to renew the watermain along Ferry Road to the boat harbour. Work on this section will commence during the second week of September.
Road reconstruction is well underway and work is on schedule for the opening of the south bound lane towards the end of next week.
Construction of the retaining wall in the wash out cavity is nearly 50 per cent complete, with each layer of the wall being individually tested for strength before the next layer is added.
The Raahui that was imposed by Ngāti Tūwharetoa following the wastewater spill has now been lifted except for the area immediately adjacent to the worksite.
