Nominations open for Youth Awards
Do you know an impressive young person who has achieved great things this year? Now is your chance to nominate them for the annual Taupō District Youth Awards.
Young people from years 7 - 13 can be nominated in any of the five categories including:
- Arts
- Academic
- Sport (individual and team awards)
- Leadership/Innovation
- Resilience
Nominations are split into three age-groups: years 7 - 8, years 9 - 11 and years 12 – 13. A panel of judges will select a winner and runner-up in each of these age-groups with an an overall all-rounder then chosen across all age-groups and categories.
Head of community, culture and heritage Dylan Tahau said the Taupō District had some incredibly talented young people who deserved to be recognised.
“The youth awards are a fantastic way of acknowledging the achievements of our taiohi and rangatahi across a broad range of fields. From sports, to the arts, to overcoming adversity, this is about recognising our youth and supporting them to put their best foot forward. I encourage everyone to get involved whether they’re a parent, teacher, coach or club,” he said.
Nominations are open until Friday, November 1 with forms now available online at www.taupo.govt.nz/youthawards. Any student living in the Taupō District can be nominated, even if they attend school outside the district.
The awards will be held on Wednesday, November 20 at the Great Lake Centre.
