Extra opening hours and locations to return voting papers
With Election Day this Saturday, our Taupō, Turangi and Mangakino customer service centres will all be open from 9am to noon to allow voters to return their papers and cast special votes if they have not received their papers.
Along with this, a special drive through station will be available in the carpark on the corner of Lake Terrace and Rifle Range Road so that people can drop off their papers without having to park and visit the service centres. The drive through will be open from 4pm-6pm on Friday and 9am to noon on Saturday. There will also be a place for people to cast special votes at the Rifle Range Road office.
Deputy electoral officer Tina Jakes said the drive through station has been a success in the past.
“It’s about making it easier for our community to get out and vote,” she said.
As at 6.30 pm yesterday, 30.79 per cent of eligible electors had returned their voting papers, slightly higher than the same time during the 2013 elections.
