Extra car parks for central business district
More than 80 additional car parks will be added to Tuwharetoa and Roberts Streets in time for the summer season.
Work will begin on the more than 80 new inberm carparks that will be installed in Tuwharetoa and Roberts Streets between Titiraupenga and Kaimanawa Streets on Tuesday, 29 October. The work is expected to take six weeks and during that time a traffic management plan will be in place.
Infrastructure manager Denis Lewis said there would be a net gain of more than 80 parking spaces. “Council is providing these extra parking spaces in response to feedback from the community. They will be all-day spaces and should go some way in helping alleviate the parking situation around the central business district, particularly over the busy summer season.”
