Councillor Christine Rankin appointed deputy mayor
Third term Taupō District Mayor David Trewavas has appointed councillor Christine Rankin as his deputy.
Councillor Rankin’s appointment was confirmed at the swearing in of the new council today.
“Christine has extensive local government and health board experience having served on the Auckland Regional Council and Waitemata Health Board before moving to Taupō and representing the community on the council and Lakes District Health Board,” said Mr Trewavas.
“With the growth we are experiencing, I believe the Taupō District is transitioning from a small district into a mini-metro and having a strong advocate with many connections at a national level standing alongside me will be invaluable as we move our district forward,” he said.
“Christine is a well-known New Zealander, with a clear passion for the Taupō District, and we have a number of large projects coming up that I will be seeking Government assistance with. I believe Christine’s extensive range of contacts in the capital will help us open the right doors.”
