Rural to residential rezoning application in Whareroa
Taupō District Council has received an application for a private plan change under the Taupō District Plan.
The application by The Proprietors of Hauhungaroa No 6 is to rezone rural land north of Whareroa to residential with the provision for up to 160 houses.
Head of Finance and Strategy Alan Menhennet said the plan change request is a notified process where the community can provide feedback on the application.
“Much like notified resource consents, the plan change is open for submissions,” he said.
“For this application, submissions are open until 29 November with the plan change available for viewing at all our customer services centres and libraries as well as online.
“Submitters will be able to make further submissions, and the application will be heard by a joint hearing committee formed under the Taupō District Council and Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board Joint Management Agreement. The further submission process and hearing will occur in 2020.”
