Tokaanu sewer break and overflow
A small wastewater overflow at Tokaanu stream has quickly been contained, following a collapsed pipe on the corner of Kopu St and Puanga St earlier this morning.
The pipe was part of the old network that is currently being upgraded in Tokaanu. Due to its age and weak state, the pipe collapsed under the drilling vibrations at the current upgrade worksite, resulting in an overflow into the stormwater network.
The network was quickly isolated with sucker trucks called in to control the flow and drain the pipe in order to fix it.
Warning signs have been erected at the access points to the stream and surrounding properties and businesses have been made aware.
Water samples have also been taken and we will keep the public informed of the results when they are received.
