Nukuhau boat ramp rail removal
UPDATE Friday, September 11
The Nukuhau boat ramp remains partially open while the final stage of work takes place to remove the now obsolete rails, but please be aware there may be delays when launching boats this weekend. We now expect the ramp will fully re-open on Monday, September 14 after the last stretch of concrete has been poured. Thanks for your patience and understanding while this work is completed to make the ramp safer for all users.
UPDATE Thursday, August 27
Work to remove the rails on the Nukuhau boat ramp will now start on Monday, August 31. The ramp will be fully open over the weekend.
From next week, part of the Nukuhau boat ramp will be closed for approximately two weeks, as work gets underway to remove the now obsolete rails on the boat ramp.
Historically, the rails were used to get larger craft into the water, however, these are no longer used so will be removed and the surface filled and concreted.
Facilities officer Heath Holdsworth is pleased the works are being done, with safety in mind.
“Council has received feedback that the rails are slippery and vehicles are losing traction on them so we’re pleased to be able to get them out before summer and get the ramp up to scratch before we get to another busy summer,” he said.
The ramp will be partially open during the works, which will begin next Thursday August 27, and is expected to be complete by September 12.
Boaties are asked to please be patient when accessing the water during the project.
Thank you for your understanding.
