Positive outcomes from collaborative community plan
Following six months of collaborative work, the Regenerate Taupō District team and wider agencies and organisations, have seen positive impacts across the community.
A plan to support the community - Regenerate Taupō District, He Tupu Ururua - was finalised in July and focused on key issues for the district, identifying opportunities for recovery, and ensuring a locally-led response to COVID-19 that also leveraged regional and national support.
As part of this work, the team has seen positive outcomes across key opportunities including job creation; support for funding application; supporting our visitor economy; ensuring education and training opportunities exist; looking after our vulnerable; and supporting businesses to thrive.
We have supported organisations and groups to access government funding through the Provincial Growth Fund including successful funding applications for the renovation of the Tokelau Hall and Church, marae upgrades and a new employment programme at Taupo Pathways.
Along with this, there has also been funding to accelerate and boost both destination marketing and management activities in the next 12 months.
The team will continue to support individuals and organisations who are taking ownership of, and being involved in, our district continuing to thrive.
