One lane road closure on Norman Smith St next week
A main access road into Taupō from Nukuhau and Acacia Bay is scheduled to have one lane closed temporarily to allow Unison to carry out maintenance next week.
The east-bound lane of Norman Smith Street into town will be closed from Noble Street to Woodward Street on Tuesday, January 26 from 7am to 4pm. The west-bound lane out of town will remain open but will have a reduced speed limit and at times be delayed with ‘stop and go’ signs in operation.
This means traffic heading from much of Nukuhau and Acacia Bay toward Taupō town centre will need to take a detour north up Acacia Bay Road on to Poihipi Road and then onto Wairakei Drive.
Traffic management will be in place and motorists can follow the signage. Digital screens are already in place advising motorists of the upcoming lane closure.
