Wastewater overflow on Ferry Rd / Redoubt St
A wastewater overflow has unfortunately occurred on Ferry Rd / Redoubt St this evening.
**UPDATE Monday 7 June**
Results from daily sampling have shown the river water quality is within safe levels. We are now removing signage in the area. We will be continuing to work closely with DIA to ensure any necessary improvements to the harbourmaster's pump station are undertaken to reduce the risk of this happening again.
**UPDATE Sunday 6 June**
We have found that a fault with the Harbourmaster’s pump station has resulted in this overflow. While this pump station is separate to council’s wastewater network, we are continuing to work closely with DIA, including looking at improvements needed to ensure we are doing everything we can to minimise the risk of this happening again.
We are still awaiting the first water sample results, but early indications are that this was a small overflow that will disperse quickly. However, signage will continue to remain in place until we confirm the water quality is within acceptable levels.
