Acacia Bay Road water connection tracking well
Work is progressing well on our project to connect Acacia Bay and Mapara residents to the Taupō town water supply.
If you regularly travel on Acacia Bay Road, you'll see the large stack of blue pipes has now disappeared – that’s because they are all in the ground!
Our contractor Camex will now be pressure testing the new system, reinstating the grass by hydroseeding the roadsides, and connecting the new pipe to the existing Acacia Bay water main. But it's not down-tools just yet; in the coming weeks they’re moving onto the second and final stage of the project, which involves connecting the mains around the Countdown supermarket.
As usual, thanks for your patience, the crew really appreciate it and it won't be too long before this project is complete.
Delays on Spa Road on Tuesday, July 27
As part of the work being carried out to connect Acacia Bay and Mapara residents to the Taupō town water supply, our contractors will be closing the left hand lane of Spa Road as it enters Tongariro Street at the roundabout between 7am and 3pm tomorrow (Tuesday, July 27). This is to allow a water main to be installed beneath the roadway and we are asking drivers to use caution around the roundabout throughout the day. Our team will be working as fast as possible to minimise disruption and things will be back to normal on Wednesday.
Fluctuations in water pressure for Nukuhau residents
While this work is taking place, our team will be trenching past some larger mains which need to be temporarily isolated so Nukuhau residents may notice some fluctuations in their water pressure between 9.30am and 2pm. This is all part of the process and our team will be working as quickly as they can to keep any disruption to Nukuhau residents to a minimum.
