The upgrade to the Pihanga
Road centre island is now finished, with new kerbing and channeling complete
and landscaping installed.
There is still a little work to be done tidying up
the adjacent seal, but Turangi Tongariro Community Board Chair Clint Green says
the upgrade is looking fantastic and he’s looking forward to the finishing
touches being done in the coming week or two.
“The entrance to Turangi has been
greatly improved with this work,” Mr Green said, “it makes for a much more
attractive introduction to the town and just in time for summer! This is part
of the Turangi Street Revitalisation Project which is making a our streetscapes
not only look better, but also safer as well. I’d like to thank the contractor
for great work and wrapping up this section well ahead of schedule despite the
weather, and all the team on the community board for the work they have put in
on a project that is changing the way our town looks for generations to come.
And we’re not finished yet – we have more packages of work to come revitalising
residential streets as well as a some more work in the CBD.”
