Finish line in sight on Hawai Reserve
The project to install stormwater bunds on Hawai Reserve is nearly done!
All major earthworks are now finalised, with just some extra safety improvements to be done around the soak pits this week.
The team have hydroseeded the reserve, so it will remain closed for the week to let the grass take.
This piece of work has been carried out as a wider programme to build resilience into our stormwater network. In severe weather events, the bunds help reduce flood risk by regulating stormwater flows which can overload the network. It has been carried out alongside larger diameter stormwater pipes being installed near Matuku Street.
