With winter upon us, our stormwater network is receiving a timely boost.
You might spot some activity near the Norman Smith St traffic lights over the next few weeks. Our contractor MAP Projects is getting started on installing underground buffer tanks.
These tanks are a big win for our network. During severe weather, stormwater can enter the wastewater network and overload the wastewater treatment plant, leading to overflows. Buffer tanks allow us to better control the flow into the plant, helping to protect the place we love.
They’ll sit six metres below ground, so once they’re in, you won’t even know they’re there.
Work is expected to wrap up at the end of October. We appreciate your patience while this work gets underway. Remember to take care around the work site and keep traffic moving.
