A huge welcome to everybody coming to the district for the 2026 Taupō Marathon.
The views from the Taupō lakefront simply can’t be beat, and this weekend’s course will showcase them at their very best. If you are out and about, you may experience some delays as thousands of competitors and spectators will be in and around Taupō.

Temporary traffic control, road closures and speed restrictions are in place around Taupō so check what you need to know below.
Head into Taupō on Saturday and cheer on everyone braving the chilly winter who are giving it a go.

The Tongariro Street bus stop will be moved to its usual temporary location on Pāora Hapi Street from 1pm Friday 31 July to 4.30pm Saturday 1 August. There will be shelter, temporary toilets and rubbish facilities available for use.
