Application for Resource Consent
Section 95A Resource Management Act 1991
Taupō District Council has received the following application for resource consent.

Proposed Zipline location: Over and along the Waikato River, between Huka Falls and the East Taupo Arterial.
Proposed Office and ‘homebase’ location: corner Huka Falls Road and Loop Road.

Details of proposed activity
The primary activity proposed is a zipline course which runs along and over the Waikato River and which includes eight stations, three of which are launch towers, three of which are landing and exit towers and two of which are combined launch and landing towers. The course will provide for five zipline runs which vary in length from 182m to 663m. The proposal also includes the establishment of new walking tracks to connect the stations and the surrounding access tracks. A total of 295m of new walking tracks is proposed along with ecological replanting and weed control.
To support the zipline tourist operation, a ‘home base’ is also proposed to provide office, reception and amenities for customers who have booked the zipline tour and also to serve customers who may be enquiring about the tour.
The application includes an assessment of environmental effects.

Any person may make a
submission on the application, but a person who is a trade competitor of the
applicant may do so only if that person is directly affected by an effect of
the activity to which the application relates that:
- adversely affects the environment; and
- does not relate to a trade competitor or the effects of trade competition.

Submission forms are available from Taupō District Council offices. Submissions must be in Form 13.
Submissions close at 5pm on Friday, March 27 2020.
You must serve a copy of your submission on Sky Play Adventures Limited, C/- Roam Consulting, 172 Mapara Road, RD 5, TAUPO 3385, as soon as reasonably practicable after serving your submission on Taupō District Council.
The applicant has also applied to the Department of Conservation (DOC) for a concession to use Crown land for some of the structures and activity. The DOC concession is being notified concurrently however this will follow a separate process to the land use consent process. Interested parties are advised to obtain more information on the DOC website about the DOC application and submission process.
