Precautionary water notice for Mangakino community

A routine inspection this afternoon led to the discovery of a dead rabbit in a Mangakino water reservoir.

As drinking water is chlorinated this provides a level of protection against most contaminants and test results we have on hand have not identified any issues. We are carrying out additional testing of the water network with further test results due back tomorrow.

The reservoir where the rabbit was found has been isolated and water supply is now being drawn from a separate second water reservoir. This reservoir has a good level of capacity so we do not expect any issues with demand and we are not asking people to conserve water.

We will have a further update for the Mangakino community tomorrow after receiving the additional test results.
