About the new Mapi
Our new Mapi has been built on a more stable, modern and mobile-responsive platform with a cleaner look and improved functionality.
Mapi is used to access a huge range of GIS information, from infrastructure and services to property information, aerial imagery and so much more. The new ‘Experience Builder’ platform ensures a better and more reliable user-experience now and into the future.
What’s new?
- Cleaner viewer interface: Easier to navigate and more responsive on mobile devices.
- Layer grouping by themes: No more endless scrolling! Layers are now organised into themes so you can quickly find what you need.
- Upgraded tools: An enhanced measuring tool to make your mapping experience smoother.
- Modern technology: Built on the latest software for better performance and stability.
What’s next?
This upgrade opens the door for future enhancements that will ensure we’re continuing to make Mapi an even more useful tool for the community. Keep an eye out for updates in 2026!

What is Mapi
Taupō District Council's geospatial mapping application, Mapi, allows you to display and interact with a variety of spatial information.
Mapi allows you to:
- Search for property information
- See the latest aerial photography
- Find the location of council-owned water, wastewater and storm water pipes
- View contours over your property
- See what day your rubbish is collected
- Find the closest council reserve
- View District Plan information.

Data Portals and open data

The Waikato and Bay of Plenty Data Portals are both public platforms where councils across both of these regions share data.
