Before erecting a sign within the Taupō District you need to make sure you understand the restrictions that apply. The rules relating to signs can be found in the Taupo District Plan. There are controls over aspects like the size and location of signs.
Work out which environment in the District Plan relates to the place where you want to put the sign. You can check out the maps for the District Plan and then review the related rules for each environment. Any signs that don’t comply with the rules in the District Plan will require a Resource Consent.
In addition to the District Plan rules there is also a bylaw focused on making sure signs are not objectionable, threatening or insulting.
