New speed limits in effect from Monday 30 June

A number of speed limits around the Taupō district will increase from Monday 30 June in accordance with requirements from central government.

Lake Terrace will revert to 80km/h from 50 metres south of Rainbow Drive down to the State Highway One roundabout near the airport.

Speed restrictions around 11 schools in our district will revert to the surrounding street speed limits, except for school start and finish times when speeds are limited to 30km/h. School restriction times vary according to the school, so please keep an eye out for the relevant signage.

Expect to see revised signage going in over the next week, with enforcement of the new restrictions scheduled to begin from Monday 30 June.

Southern Crown Road has been reviewed under the new requirements and will remain at 60 km/h.
