New roundabout now open on Crown and Taharepa roads intersection

The new roundabout at the intersection of Crown and Taharepa roads is now open with a smoother flowing traffic layout that is safer for drivers, pedestrians and the nearby school.

As well as building the new roundabout, the team have:

• Improved footpaths and kerbs around the intersection
• Added extra parking outside the shops
• Built a pedestrian crossing
• Installed new lighting

Thanks to the local businesses and residents for their patience while the upgrade work was taking place.

While the team have a few minor jobs to complete at the new roundabout you’ll also see them relocating to the Tauhara Road / Taharepa Road / AC Baths Avenue intersection to install another roundabout – again, for a safer traffic flow system. Work on this roundabout will be getting underway this week and is scheduled for completion in mid-December 2025.

While that work is taking place give yourself extra time to get around the area, especially if you are going to the AC Baths and Taupo Events Centre, Hickling Park or any of the other sports clubs and facilities nearby.
