Get your jingle bells on Taupō District, Santa’s coming!

Get ready for the magic of Christmas with Santa parades and festivals happening around the district in December. Miri Kiritimati everyone and enjoy the start of the festive season!

Taupō Santa Parade - Saturday 6 December

The Tremains Taupō Santa Parade is back this Saturday 6 December from 10am to bring the streets of Taupō to life with colourful floats, festive music, and of course, Santa himself waving to the crowd. It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season, fun for all ages and guaranteed to fill your day with cheer.

The parade begins on Lake Terrace, turns right onto Ruapehu Street travelling north, then left onto Tamamutu Street before finishing on Tongariro North Domain.

To allow Santa and his helpers to get safely through town, the following closures will be in place on Saturday from 7.30am to 3pm:

• Lake Terrace closed (both directions) from Tītīraupenga Street to Ruapehu Street.
• Roberts Street closed from Tongariro Street to Ruapehu Street.
• Ruapehu Street closed (both directions) from Lake Terrace to Tamamutu Street.
• Tamamutu Street closed (both directions) from Tongariro Street to Ruapehu Street.
• Tongariro Street closed (southbound only) from Spa Road to Tamamutu Street.

Sections of road will open once the parade has moved through.

If you're driving into town you can still access car parks by heading in along Redoubt Street and Ferry Road or Story Place. Car parks near the Hole in One are closed and spaces are limited opposite Northcroft Reserve.

Don’t let the fun stop after the parade! Shop in the heart of Taupō! The CBD is bursting with festive vibes and endless gift ideas, perfect for ticking off your Christmas list in style. You can still reach CBD businesses and park on Te Heuheu & Horomatangi Streets. Vehicles can cross Ruapehu Street roundabouts until the parade arrives. During the parade, roundabouts will close briefly for safety, then roads reopen as the parade moves along. When you’ve ticked off your list, head to Tongariro Domain for Taupō Christmas in the Park, where the party kicks into high gear with live entertainment and carols, family-friendly fun & games.
